点评:The seafront gardens are unusual, possibly unique. Essentially, they are cliff gardens carved out of the soft sandy crag that underlies much of the Suffolk coast. Although the climate of Felixstowe is famously dry, the gardens are watered by natural springs of very pure, lime free water. Look out for palms, Jerusalem sage plants, red hot pokers, and other exotic species. Also, look out for the former Felix Hotel, now flats.
The Empress of Prussia holidayed in the area in the late 19thC.
Slightly inland, several buildings by Cotman (The architect, not the painter.) are to be noted. There are brick houses with ornate gables, turrets and verandahs. The railway station is his as is The Orwell Hotel opposite. Unfortunately, the latter is now sadly disfigured by two thoughtless modern extensions.
