Deeply Disturbing Experience: Overloaded Horse Carriage and Collapse in Val Roseg

点评：I am writing to share a severe incident that occurred on 30 July 2026, during the 15:45 departure from Val Roseg (Hotel Roseg Gletscher) to Pontresina, operated by Wohlis Kutschbetrieb (Engadin Kutschen).
I was traveling with my elderly mother, which was our only reason for taking carriage transport. Before departure, I was already deeply shocked to see that two additional full-sized carriages had been hitched behind the main omnibus vehicle shown on their website. Instead of operating a single carriage, three horses were forced to pull three connected vehicles carrying nearly 60 passengers, including children, during peak summer heat. In this region, private carriages with 2 horses carry around 4 people, making it incomprehensible how 3 horses were forced to haul nearly 60.
During the journey, the extreme weight and high temperature caused one of the horses to collapse on the trail. The scene was heartbreaking—I cannot forget the sheer exhaustion in the horse's eyes as his body gave out. What made it even more appalling was the total silence of the crowd, as no one spoke up. Because of the shock and not having my phone on me, I could not take photos, but the collapse happened in full view of everyone on board.
Throughout the trip, the young driver was continuously distracted, talking on her mobile phone and chatting with a child seated beside her. Rather than taking precautions given the heat and heavy load, she repeatedly forced the horses to run, directly leading to the collapse.
I have already submitted formal reports to the Municipality of Pontresina and several international animal welfare organizations regarding this matter. Visitors should be aware of these practices before choosing this transport.
