'WALKS in Burtons' St Leonards: Join us on 1st & 3rd Thursdays June-September 2026, 11am sharp, from London Road seafront clock for 90 minutes. 45 minutes' walking up 1:5 gradient hill, with 5 minute history bites as we tuck in to nine picturesque spots. If you are free - come for the whole series - it's free!'

The volunteers offer free, regular Burtons' St Leonards 90 minute walks: Join us on the FIRST and THIRD THURSDAYS in JUNE, JULY, AUGUST and SEPTEMBER in 2026 Meet at 11am sharp, for nips of history in all weathers, up our 1:5 gradient.
11am start at London Road seafront clock. Shorter route ends at Tollgate, Maze Hill (tea optional and near transport), or further circle ends by Royal Victoria Hotel (retail & transport options)
No booking! Turn up & go dates (1st & 3rd Thursdays):

A peaceful park set in its historic neighbourhood, Burtons' St Leonards, with picturesque sea views and necessarily a 1:5 gradient. Since the council owners limit this early 19th century park's upkeep to health & safety (brush and grass cutting), the bi-annual licensed, volunteer-led gardening is limited but effective in maintaining its views to the sea, which is appreciated by regular users. See top/bottom noticeboards for free regular Summer history walks of the neighbourhood.
In the last 10 years, there has been substantial improvement in local refreshment outlets (as well as a shopkeeper's conviction for selling illegal alcohol to local users) A unique, pleasant place to appreciate.
