点评:My visit to Recoleta Cemetery was with a private guide - after reading the various reviews I realized that I could wander through this cemetery and admire the many mausoleums and monuments, but have No idea who the people were or why there were resting there. The cemetery houses more than the Duarte family and Evita Peron. It is the resting place of many of Argentina's former leaders, political heroes, military heroes, memorials to Italian immigrants, Polish and Jewish notables, a missing child and a dog, and notable families - so much history. I couldn't find out which was the oldest tomb but there were several unmaintained and very old structures dating back in history. The beauty is undeniable, the grandeur is amazing, the artistry is superb and the ginger cat a unique character. A guide is essential if you want to know how such a cemetery exists within the Recoleta area amongst high rise buildings, and who was deemed important enough to rest in peace there. Several tombs had flowers offered and of course Eva Peron's had flowers and 100 pesos bills with her image as well. An interesting location worth visiting for history and photography.
