Visiting felt especially meaningful because Jorge Bergoglio served here as Archbishop before becoming Pope Francis. The cathedral sits on the northwestern corner of Plaza de Mayo, and its exterior is quite unexpected. It looks more like a government building than a traditional church. Once you step inside, the atmosphere changes completely. The interior is stunning, peaceful and filled with beautiful details that create a calm and reverent environment.
A wonderful hidden attraction inside the cathedral is the Pope Francis Museum, which you can enter for a small fee. The museum displays important artifacts connected to Pope Francis, along with items related to Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict. It offers a fascinating look at the history and spiritual legacy of these modern church leaders.
