Watch out for being scammed. Do not be fooled by the drivers who will take you to the wrong carpark saying there is a front Monkey Temple parking and a back Monkey Temple parking. For a price the driver says they will wait while you go for a walk, which is up a very steep and winding paved track. They have other tuk-tuk drivers waiting at the first carpark who will offer to drive you up or over the hill or to another carpark for 300 rupees. This first car park is fine if you want to walk up a steep hill, over the brow and down the other side to see the Monkey Temple. However unless the driver is willing to wait for more than at least an hour or more it is not feasible. The first carpark is to a tiny Sun Temple and view point, which is good actually, but no monkeys and no monkey ghat, even though you will be pestered to buy nuts for the monkeys. You will know you are at the wrong carpark as you can not see any Temple. The correct carpark is more remote and on flat ground and the temple and hillside ghat can easily be seen through tall railings and gate. You will need to ask your driver to wait but there won't be anyone trying to sell you nuts for monkeys or offer rides elsewhere. Do not be taken in by scammers.
