东方明珠的点评
点评：Since Shanghai is known as “The Pearl of the Orient”, it is only natural that it will have an “Oriental Pearl Tower” as its most famous landmark.
The Pearl Tower is a TV Tower with a massive antenna and was built between 1990 and 1994. It was inaugurated in 1995. It is spectacular – no matter where you see it from. The design, the colors, the architecture all make it very iconic.
We photographed this beauty from every angle possible and during various times. On the day that we arrived to go to the top, there was a sign stating that the wait time to go up was 2.5 hours because of the number of people in line. It would have been approximately the same time to come back down, so we decided not to go to the top and went to the Shanghai Tower instead. It was disappointing. We really did want to be able to make it to the top but did not have that much time set aside in our busy tourist schedule.
It is beautifully lit up at night in a variety of colors.
