A Total Tourist Trap & A Blatant Scam – DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
上海外滩观光隧道的点评
点评：I should have listened to the warnings. I knew the reviews for the Bund Sightseeing Tunnel were bad, but I felt backed into a corner. Because of the May Day holidays (May 1st–5th), the East Nanjing Road metro station was closed. Since our hotel is right next to that station, we thought the tunnel would be a convenient way to cross the river. Big mistake.
The "VR Experience" Scam
Not only is the ride itself pathetic, but the staff at the ticket counter are actively dishonest. The ticket agent took advantage of the fact that I don’t speak the local language. I clearly wanted the standard 50 RMB one-way trip. Instead, she charged me 90 RMB for the "VR Experience" without my consent or even asking.
It is a total scam. The "VR" is incredibly tacky, outdated, and definitely not worth the extra 40 RMB. They are clearly trained to upsell tourists who look confused or are in a hurry due to the holiday crowds.
The "Show" is a Joke
As for the tunnel itself? It’s "trash" would be an understatement. It’s a 1990s fever dream of cheap flashing lights and plastic dolls that looks like it hasn’t been cleaned or updated in decades. It is embarrassing that this is a major attraction in a city as modern as Shanghai.

Is it worth it? Absolutely not.
