洞穴与盆地国家历史遗址 的点评
点评：Visiting the Cave and Basin National Historic Site was easily our second favourite experience in Banff—such a unique mix of history, nature, and discovery!
This site is known as the birthplace of Canada’s national parks, and it’s fascinating to learn how a simple hot springs discovery in the 1880s led to the creation of Parks Canada and the entire national park system. The exhibits do a great job of giving a quick but meaningful history lesson without feeling overwhelming.
Make sure you do it all—the cave, the basin, and the boardwalk. Entering the cave itself is a cool experience (literally and figuratively!), but watch your head on the way in. And don’t touch the water—you’ll see the warnings everywhere, and yes, there are fines!
One of the highlights was spotting the tiny Banff Springs Snails—blink and you might miss them! It turned into a bit of a fun scavenger hunt. Keep your eyes open outside too—we also spotted tiny fish in the outdoor pool and even snakes along the boardwalk, which made it feel even more like a true nature experience.
Another neat feature is seeing the replica of Canada’s first hotel “shack,” which really puts into perspective how tourism in Banff first began.
A tip: you’ll need a park pass for free entry; otherwise, you can purchase admission on-site at the second building (not the one near the parking lot).
The staff here were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate—they added so much to the experience with their knowledge and enthusiasm.
Overall, this was an awesome experience and a must-visit if you’re in Banff. Educational, interactive, and full of little surprises—you won’t regret it!
