点评:For the local population, Ho Chi Minh is a much-revered hero, who is held in high regard. We decided that as we were in Hanoi, we should go to experience the visit.. We arrived around 8am and the queue was quite short. It's an interesting experience, following the route through the square to the entrance of the mausoleum, passing the military personnel who are on guard duty. Entering the inner chamber and seeing his embalmed body was a unique moment that was powerful.
The pedestrian route takes visitors past the Ho Chi Minh museum and the presidential palace, which has a collection of the former president's possessions. Entry is chargeable and as we didn't have any Vietnamese currency, we missed out on these.
As we left the complex, many coaches with school parties were arriving (around 9 am) so my suggestion is to plan a visit before the buses of children arrive. The route to the mausoleum is covered so there is adequate shelter from the sun or rain.
We used Google maps for the walking route. It shows a direct route that doesn't take into account the military checkpoints and guards, so we had to walk around the block to reach the visitor entrance.
