点评:I think the people complaining because they clearly didn’t check the id requirements need to give their heads a wobble as well as the people wanting a typical tourist style experience where you take loads of snaps.
From the moment we got on the bus I was enthralled by the amount of detail. Yes we were there on the island but the main features are the prison buildings and stories of prisoner treatment etc. it was such a sobering experience to hear all these things. The 2nd guide was a former prisoner although he didn’t tell us that until the end was unbelievable funny, informative and to have gone back somewhere where he experienced so much suffering was unbelievably brave. In his words this must never happen again.
We got to see Mandela cell and other prison quarters. Then if you wanted you could head straight for the ferry which I did. But ir you wanted (for all the moaners you could walk around a bit and see those things you missed.
For me this is a must if you ever visit Cape Town and certainly if you live here. We must never forget and we must learn from this. This is not a traditional tourist experience though, it’s so much more
