罗本岛的点评
点评：My experience was excellent but ........ this is not about scoring an experience. Why??? Personally, the visit was sobering and although everything was excellent, the experience was not excellent as it bought home the horrors that inmates were subjected to during their incarceration.
TIP:- If you are in Cape Town, book asap when the weather forecast is good.
The visit was a huge wake up call. When you arrive, you board a bus for the whole visit. Your guide is normally an inmate of Robben Island. The stories he shared about his experiences and torture were harrowing, but, what was amazing to hear was the fact that he did not wish any revenge.
During the visit, you are introduced to the various buildings, their uses and also the inequality of life on Robben Island. The final part of the visit is to visit Nelson Mandela's cell.
In the past 11 months, I have visited Hiroshima, Auschwitz and Robben Island. I have shed tears at the three locations. How can the human race be so cruel?? When in South Africa, you must visit Robben Island. It is an amazing experience, but extremely sad and sobering.
