点评:The National Museum of Fine Arts is one of the few free museums in Manila. This is a perfect place to spend the whole afternoon walking around and marveling at the artworks and learn about the history of the Philippines. The Spoliarium by Juan Luna is housed on the main floor and is the main attraction. The staff are all welcoming, from the security at the main entrance to the men and women at the gift shop and those who clean the bathrooms. The bathrooms are well maintained and very clean.
There are wheelchairs available for the elderly and PWDs. My 88-year old mom was able to see all the artwork without any hassle. I'm very much impressed by the art collections and the beautiful architecture of the building (this is the old Senate building).
We went to see the museum on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasn't crowded. I won't be surprised if this place gets packed on a weekend. They are closed on Mondays. You will not be allowed to bring food and water but there's a cafe on the fourth floor. And yes, the elevators are working well.
The Spoliarium painting is mesmerizing and I wish all Filipinos can see this at least once in their lifetime.
Excellent place to visit if you're in Manila.
