Your local underfunded small(er)-city Canadian museum
Art Gallery Of Windsor的点评
点评：In my opinion, Canadian museums outside of Ottawa and Montreal are generally relatively mediocre and often poor value for money. This museum unfortunately fit both categories, though that wasn't particularly surprising given its location in a smaller medium-sized Canadian city. The combo ticket cost $14.25 when I visited in August 2025; individually, the museum and art gallery cost $6 and $10 respectively. (The staff didn't mention whether those prices were inclusive of tax, and I didn't ask, though any Canadian museum that clearly displays or has staff knowledgeable about whether its prices are inclusive of tax or not deserves a special mention, because this is so infuriatingly inconsistent across the country.)
The museum is worth it by Canadian standards but the art gallery isn’t really: while the exhibition space is very large and spread over two floors, there isn’t a lot to see. When I went, the second floor was a seemingly random collection of sports-related art, including portraits of the 2018-19 Toronto Raptors, a dozen papier-mache soccer balls, and a big I AM THE GREATEST button, none of which were particularly engaging or interesting. I read the exhibition guide front to back to front and again and I still had no idea how these works of art related to the concepts the artists described (which weren't exactly groundbreaking in the first place). The third floor consisted of a series of dark photos of the Canadian wilderness, some richly decorated Hudson’s Bay related drawings and two random 16th century Italian paintings, as well as a view of the Detroit River. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the highlight of the gallery for me was the view. I'd recommend skipping this since the City of Windsor's budget problems aren't going to make it better any time soon.
