点评:It is one of the three Durbar Square in Kathmandu that are UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also known as Basantapur Durbar and Hanuman Dhoka. It is situated in the heart of Old Kathmandu city, near Thamel area. It is a home to several palaces, courtyards and temples. There are almost 50 temples in the square along with “Teleju Temple” which is the tallest with 9 floors.
From intricate carving in wood, to breathtaking masterpieces in stone, every detail tells a story of timeless craftsmanship and devotion. All the temples in the square had a different stories and all are beautifully built.
The square has a very attractive Palace in white colour, built during British era. The history is very rich and fascinating and one need almost a day to cover the Square in detail. It took almost 2 hours for us with a guide, who explain the history in a very interesting way.
There are lots of cafés and food stalls around the square, where you can sit and revisit the rich history of Nepal.
Should visit with comfortable pair of shoes and heart full of curiosity to learn the stories from the past, making the journey, enriching and memorable.
