点评:The Rio Suarez has been closed a while due to rain so we knew that we would not be able to hike over to the Vargas side but being a dry day and being informed at our hotel that the parc would be closed a couple of days for necessary cleaning and upkeep we decided to go anyway.
There is s suggested $5 pp donation on entry which we gladly paid.
Even before entering (on the Playa Blanca side) there was a small group pointing at a tree just before the entry gates, and there was a Sloth hanging from a pretty low branch!
The path runs north just in from the Playa Blanca. There were some small groups with guides but it wasn’t crowded despite the imminent closure.
The walk to Rio Suarez is only about 1.5km but we saw two Lashed Pit Vipers (spotted by others but close enough to photograph on my phone), another sloth, a squirrel monkey and a group of Coatis! Again all close enough to see without a telescopes!
At the Rio Suarez we turned and walked back along the beautiful beach seeing brown Pelicans and Snowy Egrets in flight… and another Sloth in a tree🦥😃
After exiting we took another look at the first Sloth and strolled over to another group of tourists with cameras to see a large Iguana in a tree!
Having visited Parc Manuel Antonio the previous week and only getting far off views of beige high up in a couple of trees that we were told were Sloths, I am definitely Camp Cahuita!!
