Noble mission, amazing tour.
Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center的点评
点评：Rescate Wildlife Rescue Center provided a terrific 2.5 hour English guided tour of the entire wildlife sanctuary. My spouse booked the tour a couple of days in advance, using the Center's website. It was there that we were able to arrange for the English guided tour. General admission (self-guided) was a lesser admission price, but we were blown away by the quality of our guided tour through the sanctuary.
Our tour began at 10:00am, our guide was Sarah. There was no one on our tour but the two of us. Sarah was remarkable. Later we learned that she was a biologist--and that was obvious in the wonderful information that she shared with us as we toured. Sarah was very well-versed in both the intricacies of the Center as a nonprofit sanctuary, and details of each and every bird, bug, and animal that we encountered. We loved learning about the rescued wildlife, conservation, rehabilitation, and endangered species breeding programs.
At the Center's hospital a lot of information is shared without traipsing through the facility itself.
Our tour was almost three hours long. When it was done, we enjoyed a very tasty meal at the Center's restaurant, Kivu. The trail through the park is about 2.5 kilometers. It was well-paved and well cared for. It was hilly, but not to any extreme. The paths are mostly shaded by trees. There was a small children's petting zoo area and a couple areas with souvenirs and coffee.
After our meal, we went back to a couple areas that we wanted to see again (monkeys).
As we use Atenas as our base-camp, Rescate was about 25 minutes away. This tour was far and away one of the true highlights of our Costa Rican visit. Their mission is noble. Their "behind-the-scenes" tour is fantastic. You won't be disappointed.
