Staff deliberately overcharging at entry- scam!! Beware

点评：Unfortunately, it seems well known that the staff try to scam tourists with the entry fees. Numerous reviews on google maps highlight how the ticket office will say that the audio tour is compulsory and an extra €12, despite the ticket price clearly stating €30 on the ticket.
It seems that the scam has now developed further. We were warned by our hotel manger to only accept the €30 ticket price. Having read this online, we were expecting to have to argue this. However, we were pleasantly surprised when the woman at the ticket desk informed us that the ticket was €30, explaining what this allowed access to, some of the pools being closed etc. We thanked her. She advised me to tap my card to pay for 2 tickets. As I could not see the price in Turkish lira, I asked her to clarify. She stated a price (roughly 4200 TL). I explained that this was higher than €30 per ticket which she ignored. We googled the exchange rate to check - it was almost €80.
We eventually persevered with our questioning until she clarified that she was charging us €38 per person. We questioned this - she had stated €30 and then just entered a different price on her card machine- she just shrugged. We were annoyed and frustrated and said that this is clearly a scam, again she just shrugged.
It is evident that this was not a misunderstanding- staff are deliberately scamming tourists by stating the price in euros and then charging a higher price and not showing them this before they pay by card.
This is disappointing and a poor representation of Turkey. It was a disappointing end to our holiday. I hope this well known scam can be rectified, it’s so disappointing at a world heritage site.
