点评:Lake Pukaki is one of several beautiful alpine lakes in the Mackenzie Basin situated between Lake Tekapo and Twizel along SH8. It was formed by the retreating Tasman Glacier during the last Ice Age and is now a beautiful powder blue lake situated in front of snow capped mountains in the distance. It is a lovely lake worth spending a bit of time while travelling through the region.
There are several roadside pullovers along SH8 where you can enjoy the lake views. You'll find a major pullover which includes a large car park, public toilets, 24 hour isite Visitor Information Centre, Mt Cook Alpine Salmon Shop and a statue of the introduced Tahr, a wild goat species. You'll also find lakeside walking trails and an interesting Kettle Hole track upon the elevated pastoral grounds. We hiked this 4km trail recently and loved the views of the lake and mountains.
