点评：Lake Tekapo is one of the gorgeous alpine lakes in the Mackenzie Basin created by retreating glaciers during the last Ice Age. Its waters are a beautiful turquoise blue and very picturesque with the snow capped mountains in the distance, particularly on days with clear skies. It makes for a rewarding stop along SH8 between Fairlie and Twizel.
Tekapo is a popular tourist stop for those touring South Island. There are a fair number of accommodations and campgrounds, restaurants and cafes. You'll find souvenir and gift shops, a couple of activity/sports shops, petrol and a large 4 Square supermarket. You will also find sightseeing venues such as the Dark Sky Project, attractions like the landmark Church of the Good Shepherd and activities including hiking, cycling, spa & stargazing.
Note: Lake Tekapo is particularly popular during the months of November and December when the colour lupins are in bloom.
