点评:This is the third time since August we’ve gone to this museum. My daughter is enamoured with this museum and it’s been the museum she’s requested going to the most since the first visit (we’ve gone to loads of museums over the years but none of them have been requested to go back to). The museum tends to offer during school holidays a variety of activities for the kids at £3 a person which is good value - for example they did a Rosie rivet workshop (which was fantastic and the lady who ran it was superb and made it great fun), then October half term they did a medal making workshop and today we did the Chinese New Year where did the picture frame and a banner. The museum itself is small compared to the likes of the ones found in London but it has so much to offer to kids and adults alike. It guides you through the history of the engineers and has interactive activities scattered through out (like the Waterloo map, the tactic game near the Berlin Wall and various dress ups). Only gripe we have is that they have a wonderful trenches set up in the WW1 section which if they had a part where you could hear the soldiers stories or more about what the royal engineers did in WW1 then it would really add to the incredible display that they have set up which does have sections scattered around that you can read but would make it much more of an experience if you added to it. The cafe is lovely and on the 1st floor in their courtyard area - offers things like sandwiches and hot drinks which are reasonably priced and taste great compared to other offerings that we have had elsewhere. The staff are lovely and have been helpful each time we have visited. Free car park is a bonus and there is a small tank (assume it’s a tank - looks tank like) that kids can play on which is surrounded by even bigger military vehicles. They have an additional gallery space which often has exhibits on - sadly didn’t a chance to do the concrete castle one today but we will back to do it before it closes in December. Thank you for a great day out RE Museum :)
