A Must Visit for the Whisky Fan

点评：Staying in Ayr and Whithorn over a few days in September, our main goal was to visit the filming locations of the Citizen Kane of Horror, ‘The Wicker Man’. However as whisky fans, we needed also to stop in to Bladnoch Distillery near Wigtown (the bookshop capital of Scotland). Despite not being able to book onto a tour (admittedly we left it too late as we were visiting on a Saturday) we popped in to check the place out and maybe have a snack in the cafe. Plenty of parking outside, always a boon. We ventured in to see a very attractive display room showcasing their vast range of whiskies and merchandise. We were greeted by Richard, an employee who was as friendly as he was knowledgeable. He kindly spent some time with us regaling us with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the different whiskies for sale and the distillery itself, clearly enthusiastic and very engaging. He allowed us to try some of the whiskies even though we hadn’t been on the tour, and took us through some of the more exclusive rare expressions. We grabbed a couple of bottles to take home - the bright floral bestseller Samsara, and the caramelly Liora, as well as a badge and a tote bag. Our friend, an Islay whisky fan, grabbed an Alinta, a campfire sweet dram. Suitably loaded up with merch (didn’t pick up a cycling jacket sadly), we’d have liked to stop into the adjoining cafe for coffee and cake, but alas it seemed that the people on the just finished tour had filled it up so we couldn’t get in and had to head to Wigtown for sustenance. Disappointing but couldn’t be helped.

If you’re in the region, give Bladnoch a visit, highly recommended for the welcome we got, shout out to Richard! Oh and the whisky is superb too !

如果你在这一带，一定要去布拉德诺赫看看，那里的接待热情周到，强烈推荐！特别要提一下理查德！哦，那里的威士忌也堪称一流呢！
