点评:A visit to Sutton Hoo is a must for everyone interested in history.
A walk around ancient burial mounds and a visit to see some ancient artefacts might initially sound a bit dull.
However, at Sutton Hoo, history is truly brought to life. We get to learn the complex and fascinating history of our ancestors, their arts, skills along with the mundanity of life in Anglo-Saxon England.
The other part of the story is the discovery and excavation of the site in the 1930's. A great explanation of how that all happened occurs at Tranmer House, home of Edith Petty who was a key figure in the archeological excavation of the burial ground.
In Tranmere house you might get really lucky and meet Ade, one of many extremely helpful and knowledgeable volunteer staff at Sutton Hoo.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. It's a must-see.
Thanks to the staff on the site and in the shop and cafe. Thanks especially to Ade who managed to plug many gaps in my almost insatiable curiosity!
All the best! Pete.

Pete。
