Underwhelming and overpriced
Bluebell Railway的点评
点评：We recently did the Golden Arrow Luncheon on the Bluebell Railway – Sheffield Park Station as part of my husband’s 50th birthday celebrations, and overall I would describe the experience as mixed.
The positives first: the actual Pullman carriages are absolutely beautiful. The décor, atmosphere and attention to detail inside the original train are genuinely special and very atmospheric. The staff were also excellent regarding my dietary requirements and handled my yeast intolerance very well, which I really appreciated.
Food and service were both good, and the whole experience initially feels very exciting and nostalgic.
However, the actual train journey itself was quite underwhelming compared to what we had expected from the advertising and photos. We had imagined a scenic journey through beautiful Sussex countryside, but in reality the train travels up and down the same short stretch of track between a handful of stations for most of the experience.
At one point the train stops at a station while you continue eating, so for quite a while there are no changing views at all. Because of this, after a while the journey became repetitive and honestly a little boring. The scenery also wasn’t nearly as spectacular as we had anticipated.
Unfortunately, for the price point, we did expect more from the overall experience. While the train itself is stunning and the staff were lovely, it felt very expensive for what was essentially travelling back and forth along the same short route for several hours.
We are glad we experienced it once, particularly for the historic atmosphere inside the train itself, but I do think expectations should perhaps be managed a little more clearly regarding the actual route and scenery.
