点评:We visited this park in October abit past the fall color peak and stayed at the Homestead Campground. Some of the sites are not as level as the park site says but our site was nice. Very few at the park this time of year and no bugs making for a very pleasant time. Showers and flush toilets were closed for the season but we travel pretty self contained so not a big deal. The big attraction of this park is the history as encountered via the hiking trails. The confluence of the Wisconsin River with the Mississippi is from an awesome vantage point. Many indigenous burial mounds. Perhaps my biggest disappointment was that with dogs and with trail closures, one could not hike a loop so we were forced to backtrack over trails repeatedly each day that were not all that interesting for the third or fourth time. This park can be fully experienced in two or three full days. Because of the right of way along the mississippi river the trains do run frequently, but we didn't mind the sound. One can see Prairie du Chien from parts of the park so there is not a sense of isolation that you would get from more remote parks. We are Wisconsin state park regulars. We find that the fees are very modest and the visits are worth every penny.
