A beautiful island.
Westray Island的点评
点评：We spent two nights on the island; we had a car with us and stayed at the Pierowall Hotel. Did the return trip on the ferry from Kirkwall (if you are coming with a vehicle make sure you book in advance).
We’d wanted to visit Westray for some time and we weren’t disappointed. This is a lovely place with plenty of things to see and do. Spectacular cliffs with lots of bird life, including puffins. A Heritage Centre, a castle, a golf course (with the longest hole in the UK), an art gallery, 3 shops, a hotel, one or two nice cafes and plenty of wonderful walks.
There’s also the chance to visit Papa Westray either by ferry on on the shortest commercial flight in the world.
Being an hour and a half from Kirkwall (by ferry) the island has a high degree of self-sufficiency which is evident even on a two day visit.
