Majestic Gothic cathedral and Bayeux the starting point to the awesome Normandy region.

点评：The Notre-Dame cathedral in Bayeux is one of the most majestic and beautiful I have seen in such a small town. In summer at nightfall, there is an awesome “Sound and Light”. The theme of the show changes every year. Absolutely unmissable.
But Bayeux is not only that, there is so much to do and learn about it.
While the history of Bayeux is traced back to Roman times, it is now mostly known for its important role during WW2, its Gothic cathedral, the lace museum where you can even enrol for an embroidery course to learn this ancestral technique, and of course, until end of Septembre, Bayeux was home to the ever-famous “Bayeux Tapestry” depicting the events leading up to Norman Conquest of England in 1066, now on loan in London for the next two years.
Bayeux is a vibrant small town, where it is nice to stroll the side-streets and town centre whatever the season. It is rich in great little boutiques, good restaurants, bars and lovely hotels where to put down your suitcase while discovering this awesome town. It is also, the perfect starting point to radiate around Normandy to discover and try all the delicacies it has to offer (cider, Calvados, cheese, oysters to name just a few), and, of course, to witness a slice of ancient and modern history with several remains on the beaches and the museums recounting D-Day, the Normandy Beach Landing, the American Cemetery, the unmissable Mont Saint-Michel and so much more.
Be aware, that some periods of the year are packed with tourists, therefore make all your reservations well in advance.
