A grand day out by rail and water
Lakeside & Haverthwaite Steam Railway的点评
点评：We combined the rail trip with a lake cruise starting at Ambleside Pier which was close to where we were staying. From the beginning the staff at the ticket office were very helpful and informative.
As we were travelling in October we weren't too sure what the weather would do but luckily although it was cold it remained dry.
Having wrapped up we spent the first leg of the journey on deck having points of interest commented on.
We joined the train at Lakeside and travelled to Haverthwaite. Although it was a short journey it passed through areas with plenty to see, I've never seen so many pheasants in one day!
Once we arrived at Haverthwaite station we visited the cafe, and what a great place the is, with a really good range of food options including vegetarian/vegan and gluten free. The service was friendly and quick.
We travelled back the same way but opted to sit below deck this time.
All in all it was a good day out, hopefully we'll get chance to do it again.
