多尔玛巴赫切宫的点评
点评：This is a 'new' palace built in the 19th century. The rooms are mostly fashioned after western European styles. I imagined that the Sultan wanted to have a palace that looked like Versailles or Schönbrunn. The lavishness is stunning. No wonder the empire had to declare bankrupsy after the palace was finished. We arrived early before it opened at 9 am and there was virtually no line. We could enjoy a leisurely tour of the palace and other parts. The paintings museum was a bit of disappointment as most of the paintings were western style paintings that one would find in French or German museums. This is a stark contrast to Topkapi palace, and a visit would give one a good comparison of the two sides of Turkey. I wouldn't say this is a must visit, though. No large cameras are allowed, but mobile phones can be used to take pictures or movies.
