Fortress in walls and Golden Gate - now open and worth a visit for views and history
Yedikule (Castle of the Seven Towers)的点评
点评:This is marked as permanently closed on TripAdvisor but this is no longer correct - it has reopened 9am-5pm daily. An impressive ruined fortress, mainly from the early Ottoman era but incorporating the Golden Gate through which the Byzantine emperors made a ceremonial entrance to the city. Still under restoration but the whole site is visible and you can climb a well-maintained staircase onto the walls above the Golden Gate, with fantastic views over the Istanbul and the Sea of Marmora. A modest 100 lira entry for international visitors, pleasant staff and good written information. A short bus trip or taxi ride from most other sites but recommended and great to see a sight that has actually reopened when too much of Byzantine Istanbul seems to be closed indefinitely.
