Jumonville Glen的点评
点评：6 miles from Fort Necessity is the spot where a young George Washington sparked the French and Indian war. A brief fight between the French and the British (along with some native allies) led to the battle of Fort Necessity and eventually to the battle of the Monongahela where General Braddock was killed (his grave is a few miles east of here on route 40).
Free admission and parking. Only amenity here is a nonflushing pit toilet. There is a short paved path with a few historical signs before the trail turns to natural surface (roots and rocks) and decends into the glen where the battle occured. The path down was steep and slippery from recent rain so be careful. The battle site has a marker and sign describing the battle. There is a short (approx. 1/2 mile) loop trail that meanders from here through the glen before returning to parking area. There were no other historical markers along the trail and no good views either so you can skip it and not miss a thing except a rooty walk in the woods.
We spent about one hour here and that included the rooty walk.
This site is best done as an add on to both Fort Necessity and Braddocks grave which are both quite close.
