点评:My husband took me in the direction of Ligonier for my birthday and I was so excited to finally stop!
You begin in the museum portion of the building before making your way outside to the fort. The first museum that you enter is the History Gallery. It has a lot of memorabilia to see and read about. There are also some areas that have some hands-on learning, including stepping inside of a tent and trying on period wear. The next room of the museum that you enter is The George Washington Gallery. The room first plays a movie explaining what went on during those times. You also walk into a gorgeous Hall of paintings known as The Art Gallery.
You then head out behind the building where you will take a walk up the hill into the fort. This fort is pretty extensive. Numerous buildings for many uses. Sleeping quarters, hospital, etc. All are filled with items that give you the feel of what it would’ve been like back in those days. Plenty to take in and snap some vintage look photos. You can see the cannons poking through the sides of the fort, and really imagine what it may have been like to live during this time period. Walking down the hill, you see covered wagons, the area where food is made, and more. I loved the “hospital” rooms that had a nice cool breeze coming clear through.
After checking out all the grounds, be sure to stop in the gift shop. Lots of great items to purchase and I specifically loved higher up on the shelves, how they pulled the era into the decor they used.
A wonderful, historic stop for adults and kids!
Wheelchair accessible parking lot and entrance.
