匹兹堡学习大教堂的点评
点评：What a wonderful place to visit. The Cathedral of Learning (referred to as ‘Cathy’ by students and Alumni) is the second talked classroom building in the world with Moscow Russia having the tallest.
There are more than 3 dozen Nationally and Heritage rooms (functioning classrooms). Each rooms on is maintained by a community organization generally representing a country.
We paid $10 each for a 90 minute tour although you can walk around for free.
The benefit of having a guided tour is learning about the origins of the rooms, explanations of artifacts, architecture, etc.
Our Student Guide, Donavan’ did an excellent job. We accessed 10 of the classrooms. Bear in mind, classes are held in these rooms so you see classrooms that are empty.
I attended Pitt in the mid 70’s and had classes in two Nationality Rooms. One was the German room and it had beautiful decorations for Christmas. Had hoped to show that one to my husband but there was a class going on.
On a side note, I met Fred Rodger’s (of Mr Rodger’s Neighborhood) on the elevator one day. He was very cordial.
The Ground floor looks like something out of a Harry Potter movie. Hundreds of tables and cubbies where students study, gather, or rest.
