点评:The Leipzig Opernhaus dates from 1868. In December 1943 over 400 RAF bombers created a firestorm and the opera, like most of the city, was turned to rubble. Rebuild in 1960 by the DDR and renovated in 2007, the opera hall has 1,264 seats. On a chilly evening in November, we visited the Oper Leipzig. Conducted by Yura Yang (1990), the Gewandhaus Orchestra performed Mozart's KV620 ‘Die Zauberflöte’. The orchestra is excelent and Mozart’s famous opera was well performed. The modern staging ain’t the style we like, but the singers were good, and it was a joy to hear Samantha Gaul as ‘Pamina’ and Regina Koncz as ‘Queen of the Night’. The audience were mostly young people, may dressed up for the opera. This is the charm of old Germany. We had a nice evening. Recommended.
