点评：Took 2 train rides- open car to Bald Knob, closed car to Durbin. Nice contrast. Fantastic way to view Autumn foliage. Plant nerds will love I.D.ing Native vegetation and seeing mature trees in their natural habitat. Breathtaking long views.
Stayed at Company House. Comfortable and cozy. Cooked breakfast- plan ahead to bring groceries in a cooler. Grocery store/restaurants are a distance, and Navigation/Maps are unreliable due to proximity to Observatory.
Company store has delicious ground coffee, loose tea, jams etc. from local businesses.
Tom the Brakeman was awesome on Bald Knob run. Answering steam train operating questions and pointing out wildlife. We’ve spent hours in a Railroad museum in Lancaster PA examining mechanical details of engines and cars- dream come true to ride for 5plus hours and watch them in action.
