Not welcome in God's Cathedral
格洛斯特大教堂的点评
点评：Having been recently bereaved and anticipating spending Christmas alone I decided to take myself on a tour of some of our nations beautiful churches and Cathedrals. All went well I met kind helpful informative people and experienced fantastic History and Architecture.... that is until I reached Gloucester Cathedral. The "welcoming team" were a group of 4 young women who seemed to have been handpicked for their Complete lack of Human feeling and talent for arguing, being abusive and applying Rules.
There is a sign on the door which says "Well Behaved Dogs Welcome" I failed to notice that underneath in much smaller writing it says Monday to Saturday ....and this was Sunday. This should also be in big writing then people would be made aware.
I had nobody with me who could take my tiny Dachshund and I was told in a very nasty way that I was not welcome. When I expressed my disappointment that I had come 200 miles and I was therefore disappointed. I received abuse and the young women actually ganged up on me endlessly repeating their Rules which by now I was quite aware of.
The advertised "Tidings of Comfort and Joy" and "A Place for Everyone" are empty hypocritical words.
I left the Cathedral more in need of "Comfort" than when I arrived.
I am astounded that the Dean apparently doesn't prioritise the "Welcoming Team" as the first impression they make colours the visitors whole experience.
My legacy will go to Wells Cathedral. I love it and I felt good there as I also did at Hereford Cathedral though they probably don't need extra money as they have the Mappa Mundi. The people running Gloucester Cathedral need to take a look at themselves. Some of them are badly letting down a beautiful place.
