点评：Perfect day to visit this beautiful sanctuary, Monday afternoon. No huge crowds to fight, gorgeous weather in mid-February. Saw lots of interesting birds up close, some would even walk up to you for food. But if you're going in the afternoon, don't bother paying a dollar for the bag of flamingo food. The flamingos won't eat it -- they're all full from being feed all morning long. None of them were interested in our handouts at all. And you're not supposed to feed the peacocks according to what was written on the bag of food. I think you can feed the other birds though. You may want to ask at the ticket counter. The live animal event featured a blind albino opossum and an teeny tiny owl on this day -- they have different animals on different days. This is not a zoo -- it's an animal rescue and sanctuary, so the talk they gave at the event centered around how they help the animals and what the public can do to help the animals. Education. Love that. Beautiful peacocks everywhere. The butterfly room wasn't as filled with butterflies as much as I've seen at other exhibits like the Milwaukee Public Museum, but maybe that depended on the time of year or something. Take the tram ride to see the whole park. When we went there were two huge gators in a smallish pen, perhaps they are waiting to be moved to another place where they can have more room, I'm not sure. The bear had unfortunately passed away, so was not on exhibit. But they had a puma cub that was new to the place, I think the sign said it was the very first day it was on exhibit so they were asking the public to be restrained a bit so as not to frighten it. We spent about 2-3 hours there and had a great time.
