点评:We did not stay the night here we were in the area and wanted to go hiking.
We did the Abilene Dam Road hike. To get there you have to go from the check in point out of the park back on the main road and south a bit then it’s off to the right.
The lake water looked super red when we first started hiking which was a bit weird, the level of the lake seemed very low. As the sun moved in the sky the reflection off the lake made it seem much prettier. The trail is as the name indicates at times used as a road, it starts sealed then turns to gravel, in a few places it was muddy. Mostly it was well sign posted but at one point there used to be 4 intersecting paths with no clear labeling which could be clearer. We didn’t see much wildlife. Most of the path is flat with a few inclined in places. So it wasn’t a bad hike but not especially interesting either.
If you are nearby and want to have a hike in nature this is a fine place to do it but I wouldn’t consider this a destination hiking location.
