点评:I am writing this review because the way Rapids Waterpark handled my lost wallet was extremely frustrating, careless, and disrespectful of my time.
Yesterday, while visiting Rapids Waterpark, I realized that I had lost my wallet. I immediately went to Lost and Found, reported it, and left my name and contact information.
Later that evening, someone from the park called me and left a voicemail regarding a wallet that had been found. The following morning, I called the park and spoke directly with an employee. After that conversation, the employee sent me a text message giving me specific instructions to pick up the wallet at the office located at 6566 N Military Trail.
Based on the voicemail, the telephone conversation, and the employee’s written instructions, I reasonably understood that the park had found my wallet.
I live approximately one hour away from Rapids Waterpark. I drove all the way back to West Palm Beach specifically to recover it. After arriving and following the directions I had been given, I was informed that the wallet they had found was not mine at all—it belonged to a woman.
This means that I made an unnecessary two-hour round trip because no one took the basic step of verifying the name or identification inside the wallet before calling me and asking me to come pick it up.
A wallet normally contains a driver’s license, credit cards, or other information identifying its owner. Confirming the owner’s name before contacting someone should be one of the most basic steps in any Lost and Found procedure.
I understand that mistakes can happen. However, this was not simply a small misunderstanding. The park contacted me, spoke with me by telephone, and sent me written directions instructing me where to collect the wallet. At several points, someone could have verified whether the wallet actually belonged to me. Apparently, that did not happen.
The employee’s lack of attention caused me to waste approximately two hours driving, in addition to the gasoline, tolls, and inconvenience involved. More importantly, I still do not have my wallet.
What makes this situation especially disappointing is that, after I arrived, there appeared to be very little concern about the fact that I had traveled such a long distance based entirely on incorrect information provided by the park.
Rapids Waterpark needs to review and improve its Lost and Found procedures. Before telling a guest that an important personal item has been recovered—and before asking that guest to travel to the park—employees should:
1. Verify the name on the identification inside the item.
2. Ask the guest to describe the wallet and its contents.
3. Confirm that the description matches.
4. Document clearly which guest is being contacted.
5. Avoid giving definitive pickup instructions until ownership has been verified.
This entire situation could have been avoided with less than one minute of basic verification.
I am not posting this review because my wallet was lost. I understand that the park cannot guarantee that every lost item will be recovered. I am posting it because the park specifically contacted me and led me to believe that my wallet had been found, causing me to drive approximately two hours round trip for a wallet that clearly belonged to someone else.
I hope management takes this complaint seriously, contacts me directly, and implements a more responsible verification process so another family or guest does not experience the same unnecessary frustration.
At this point, I am extremely disappointed with the customer service and the lack of care shown in handling this matter.
