A Vacation Ruined by a Defective RV and Poor Support

点评：Our experience with Indie Campers was extremely disappointing and, unfortunately, had a major negative impact on our vacation.
We specifically booked an RV with 7 seats. The vehicle we received had only 6 seats. As a result, our group could not travel together as planned, and some of our friends had to travel separately in another vehicle, causing additional fuel and travel expenses.
Unfortunately, that was only the beginning.
The RV had numerous defects. Most importantly, the height-adjustable table was broken, which meant that the sleeping area that depended on the table could not be used. We needed sleeping space for six people, but because of this defect, we effectively had only four usable sleeping spaces. We therefore had to book additional accommodation at campsites.
Other problems we reported included a non-functioning water sensor, unpleasant-smelling bedding, missing or broken interior parts, and eventually even a non-functioning rear brake light.
The handling of the safety-related issues was particularly concerning. We also noticed that the license plate displayed an outdated registration sticker. We repeatedly had to contact support and request current registration and insurance documentation. At one point, Indie Campers explicitly instructed us in writing not to drive the RV until they could confirm that it was safe and legal to operate.
This all happened during our vacation. Instead of enjoying our road trip together, we spent a significant amount of our time dealing with support chats, emails, documenting defects, arranging additional accommodation, travelling separately and trying to establish whether we could safely and legally continue driving the vehicle.
Indie Campers ultimately provided us with $550 in compensation/reimbursement. While we appreciate receiving something back, $550 does not undo the lost vacation time, the stress or the fact that our group could neither travel nor sleep together as originally planned.
We rented an RV specifically to enjoy a vacation together. Instead, we received a vehicle that did not match the configuration we booked, had numerous defects and eventually raised serious safety concerns.
In simple terms: this RV was an absolute disaster, and the experience significantly affected our vacation.
After this experience, we would not book with Indie Campers again.
