点评:Great attractions, but where is the Disney magic? 🫤
We were so excited to visit Disney Adventure World, particularly for the new Frozen area, and there are definitely some great things here. Frozen is beautifully done, we loved several of the attractions, and there were a couple of Cast Members who really stood out — particularly a lovely Cast Member in the Tower of Terror shop and another in the Frozen area who genuinely embraced that Disney magic.
Unfortunately, though, the overall experience left us feeling really disappointed.
We have been lucky enough to visit Walt Disney World in Florida, and I appreciate that Disneyland Paris is not Florida and shouldn’t be expected to be identical. But surely the one thing that should translate to every Disney park is how guests are made to feel.
At Walt Disney World, the magic isn’t only in the rides. It’s everywhere. Cast Members interact with you, pin trading is fun, children are made to feel special, and even the people sweeping the streets somehow seem delighted that you’re there. You feel incredibly lucky and excited just to be in the park.
We simply didn’t get that feeling here.
My 13-year-old loves pin trading and has traded at Walt Disney World, where it was such a fun part of the experience. Here, very few Cast Members seemed to trade at all. When we eventually found some who did, rather than it being a fun interaction, her pins were scrutinised and several were declared “fake”, with faults being pointed out in the enamel, metalwork and Mickey markings on the backs. These are inexpensive pins she has collected and traded during Disney holidays — including through Disney’s own trading system. Watching the excitement disappear from her face was heartbreaking. Whatever the trading rules are in Paris, surely there is a kinder, more magical way to explain them to a child.
We were also really looking forward to seeing Olaf. Apparently his appearances are a “surprise”, meaning you don’t actually know whether or when he’ll appear, and we were told he may not appear when it’s too busy. 🤦🏻♀️ For such a major character in a brand-new Frozen land, this seemed bizarre.
Then there were the smaller interactions. We ordered a Croque McQueen from the Cars food truck and it was basically chucked at us by two very abrupt young Cast Members. Elsewhere we encountered Cast Members who seemed grumpy or uninterested, and on Avengers one male Cast Member was shouting at guests to hurry up.
Of course, running a theme park is difficult and guests need to follow instructions. But Disney isn’t inexpensive. You’re not simply paying to ride rollercoasters — you’re paying for the experience around them too.
That’s what seemed to be missing.
There are some excellent attractions and the park has lots of potential, but for us it felt strangely soulless. It was as though all the Disney ingredients were there, but somebody forgot to add the fun.
Perhaps Walt Disney World has spoiled us, but that’s also shown us just how special Disney can make people feel. In Florida, you leave thinking, “How lucky are we to be here?”
Today we left Adventure World thinking, “Is that it?”
And that’s such a shame, because Disney magic shouldn’t depend on which side of the Atlantic you’re on. ✨
