点评:The People's House is a great supplement to a tour of the actual White House, which is very limited. This comprehensive museum covers all the details of the White House. The first floor has a scale model showing each major room and its purpose. There's a large room with "digital wallpaper" that changes to show the different rooms and the items in them, which you can explore by touching the wall (there's a lot of touching at this museum; wash your hands!). There's also a replica of the Oval Office and the Resolute Desk.
The second floor is all about how the White House operates. It has a library with video profiles of the White House staff and information about different aspects of the operations from food service to security and hospitality. Another section has trivia and short video historical information about everything from the White House record collection to exotic presidential pets.
The museum is very interactive and is clearly geared towards a modern audience with lots of touch screens and buttons and short, digestible video and audio clips.
This is a free museum and there is quite a bit here considering the limited focus. There's easily two hours or more of information here, though I'm not sure how many people are going to be interested in the biography of the head dishwasher for Chester Arthur, which is the level of detail in some of the exhibits.
