点评:I’d heard such wonderful things about this place and the garden didn’t disappoint. Glorious spring bulbs, water features, an arboretum and open vistas. Such variety and all beautifully maintained. We were impressed by the height of the fountain, well worth seeing , even though we did get wet when it came our way. We spent several hours strolling around stopping to sit on the plentiful benches and swings dotted about. Enjoyed our tasty scones sitting outside the new cafe. Having a dog wasn’t a problem. We took it in turns to go in the house. We both agreed the house was disappointing. Not the stunning structure but the way it was curated. Individual items were described but we wanted more on the history of the house and abbey, the monks and families, staff who’d lived here. We could have bought a book to find out more but admission is not cheap and we felt this could have been included. I would have liked to have seen the kitchen and refectory.
