点评:I don't typically write reviews but feel compelled to write this one because I really wish I had known what I was getting into before taking this tour. There are so many other things I could have spent time and money on in this fantastic and interesting community. If you have a few hours and a love of antiques and paintings this might be a perfect tour for you. While a small clock in the window indicating when the next tour will be would be very helpful (and appreciated) this tour does not do this. So, be prepared to wait an indefinite amount of time on the front porch before touring the home. Also note, before being led into the front hall of the Belvedere guests must pay. Paying with cash also seems to speed things up as paying with a card is a very lengthy process with everyone waiting on the porch until cards have been processed. I was really looking forward to learning about this beautiful mansion and touring its carefully preserved rooms and grounds. Upon entering the hall, our tour group was greeted by a lovely gentleman who was well-spoken and interesting. He told our tour the history behind the mansion and a bit about the architecture. However, after listening to him for about 25 minutes I would guess, the people on my tour started looking at each other and whispering, "I didn't realize this tour was so long!" We did move on to the dining room where, much to my disappointment, the room was not staged but rather appeared to be a gathering place for candle operas, statues, and other antique items. Though these antiques were beautiful, the way they were displayed was confusing and, in my opinion, almost diminished their value. From the dining room, we were handed off to a second guide, escorted up to the second floor, and ushered into a small room (the servant's quarters) where we were able to view the "T.V. room." We were not able to view any other rooms in this area as the tour guide informed our group those rooms were full of "stuff." We moved into the hall of the master bedroom on the second floor and looked into the master suite (the most staged room in the house) and a guest room. The third floor was blocked off from the public and our tour was once again handed off to a third guide. At this point, it was 50 minutes into the tour, one person had left out the side door off of the dining area, and another small group of women were muttering they didn't want to take a two-hour tour. My friend and I were both disappointed and ready to reunite with our husbands. In the end, we decided not to finish the tour and were escorted through a sitting room and a small conservatory. Both rooms were quite full of antiques randomly displayed. It was an unsatisfying experience and as my friend and I walked away we agreed it was a bit like the Hotel California where you can check in almost any time you like, but you can never leave!
