点评:We arrived Dar es Salaam by cruise with no firm plans for a tour. I had a list of places I wanted to visit. I met Razie on the pier and showed him the list and asked if it was possible to see everything. Of course! So we left with him in a private air conditioned van with a skilled driver as well. What a fabulous tour! He took us to the fish market and really took us into the market where all of the business is done. What an experience! Stinky, yes, authentic, absolutely! Then we went to the main market. With Razie I felt totally safe asking questions and taking photos where acceptable. The market was another very busy, crazy place. But what an experience! Razie then took us to the Museum Village. As we got there, 7 cruise ship buses pulled up…ugh. No problem! Razie took us on our private walking tour and we saw and did it all without having to wait for a mob. Razie spoke great English and was able to talk about all of the different buildings and answer lots of questions. Whew, cruise ship buses avoided! Next we went to the wood carvers. How very interesting. He took us through one of the small stalks back to where the real work is done. Dozens of wood carvers each behind their stalls in a large courtyard area. Lots of the wood trinkets sold in shops in Africa are made here. Another fascinating experience. Next it was off to lunch. Another experience! Lastly, the drive back to port. I’m glad we had a very skilled driver! The traffic and drivers are horrible. All in, the day was about 9-3. We’ve been onboard our cruise for about 2 weeks with many port stops. I can say with pleasure that this was the best day yet! I would seek Razie out again in a heartbeat if ever in this part of the world.
