An Incredible Historical Tour Through The IX Fort Museum.
第九堡垒的点评
点评：Considering it has only existed for just over 100 years, the IX Fort is jammed packed with many periods of history, and has changed ‘ownership’ and purposes many, many times.
Because of this, I enquired about their two hour, overview tour, in order to really get a feel for the site. They have many tours which are free during the weekend, but my stay meant that I was only able to attend a paid tour during the week- money well spent, it turned out!
My guide was Edgar, was friendly, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgable. It was just myself and him on the tour, but he was both easy going and engaging, and I soon found myself fascinated with the timeline of history that unravelled before me. No corners were cut, and Edgar managed to get through a glut of information with a lightness of touch. This was a well considered and factual tour from an expert of history, and I was very grateful for his time and company.
On Edgar’s tour, I learnt about the fort’s origins, its original purpose, and how its use changed over the course of the 20th century. Not only this, I got access to many parts of the fort that the general public do not usually see- something I didn’t expect but was very excited about! Some parts were technical and interesting, whilst others were even quite amusing! Of course, some bits were very sad, and Edgar handled these topics with real sensitivity.
I won’t spoil the tour for anyone, but I can wholeheartedly recommend it. Don’t be afraid to go if it’s just yourself, if the other staff are anything like Edgar, you will have an incredible journey from start finish. It’s worth every penny, and I certainly wouldn’t have had the experience I did if I’d have walked around the museum on my own. Do drop them an email, they will sort everything with you. It’s a must do in Kaunas. Thank you to all the staff at the IX Fort Museum.

我就不剧透 tour 的内容了，但我衷心推荐这次 tour。即使只有你一个人去也不必担心——如果其他工作人员也和埃德加一样优秀的话，你从始至终都会有一段难忘的体验。这笔钱花得绝对值；如果我独自一人逛博物馆的话，肯定无法获得这样的体验。不妨给他们发封邮件吧，他们会帮你安排好一切。这绝对是卡乌纳斯不容错过的体验。感谢IX要塞博物馆的所有工作人员！
