A Dreadful experience never to be repeated

点评：Disgusting Service from one of the worst waiters ever! As a regular visitor to Champagne and France generally I don’t think I could have been insulted so terribly! We were very confused what had been arranged as we had asked our hotel to organise it for us and it was May 1st which was a national holiday. I can only guess that the waiter drew the short straw and wasn’t happy to be there.
We were under the impression that we had booked a tasting experience but when we asked we were told we had to sit on the other side of the restaurant terrace. We noticed that our glasses were wine glasses! All the others had Pommery branded glasses and we were told that our flat champagne looked flat because “you can’t see the bubbles through the thick glass” We beckoned over another waiter and explained our situation he immediately went away and returned with a fresh bottle of bubbly Champagne which is exactly what we had ordered in the first place! The menu was limited choice and the cuisine distinctly average. We were so disappointed!
I have visited numerous Champagne houses in Reims and in Epernay and I have never been treated so poorly as if we didn’t know anything about Champagne. My friend who was born in France and left when she was 20 to live in Germany, the UK, Australia and New Zealand was embarrassed to say she was French! We have never been so insulted! We would have liked to purchase Champagne and sundries but we were told in arrival everything was closed
