点评：I had a very disturbing experience at the Whitney Museum today that needs to be addressed.
While approaching an elevator with a friend, a security guard abruptly and rudely told us to “back off” without any explanation. When I returned to calmly ask about alternative elevators, he responded with another snide remark. I pointed out that his tone was inappropriate, at which point the situation escalated significantly.
The guard began yelling, aggressively shoved his ID directly into my face in a confrontational manner, and told me he would “meet me outside at 6pm,” which I perceived as a threat. He then stepped very close to me in an apparent attempt to provoke a reaction. This behavior was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
I asked for a supervisor. Another guard intervened but did not meaningfully de-escalate the situation, and despite waiting, no supervisor ever arrived. Later, when I attempted to document the incident, the same guard again became verbally aggressive.
I am a Whitney Museum member and was shocked by this experience. This incident was witnessed by my companion and other staff, and I assume it is also captured on the museum’s security cameras. I did speak with another staff member, Romeo Petric, who acknowledged the situation and advised me to return to speak with a supervisor.
I expect the museum to take this matter seriously. No visitor should be treated in such a hostile and threatening manner by security staff. I urge management to review the footage and address this behavior appropriately.
