点评:Washington Slagbaai National Park in Bonaire is a bit like a trip to Mars if it had water. It's very dry, red dirt with some scrubby trees but mostly cacti. The road is extremely rough and they won't let you into the park without a high clearance vehicle; but doesn't have to be 4WD. Go slow and prepare for some bumps and it's fine.
We did the long route and stopped at Boca Chikitu, the Malmok Lighthouse and the functioning lighthouse. Made the short trek to the pool of fresh water on the long route (note it was very close to dry) and then stopped at a few places on the east coast to snorkel including the highlight of the trip at Boca Slagaai.
Overall it was a great way to spend 3/4 of a day and while I wouldn't do it again if I return to Bonaire it is something I'd recommend for all first timers. Plan to go early as they don't allow you in after 2PM because they want to make sure you get through the park before dark.
