点评：We had a wonderful day at The Dell Vineyard today and would highly recommend it to anyone, whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or completely new to wine tasting.
Set in a stunning location between Monmouth and Abergavenny,
The Dell Vineyard is a family-run business with a genuine passion for Welsh wine. Our vineyard tour lasted around 45 minutes and was hosted by the fantastic Lucy, who was knowledgeable, engaging, and incredibly welcoming throughout.
Lucy explained the different grape varieties grown at the vineyard and how they are used to create the range of wines produced on site. What made the tour especially enjoyable was hearing about the journey she and her partner, Ben, have been on to build the business, including some of the challenges they faced in the early days.
Their commitment to quality over quantity was evident, and it was inspiring to hear how proud they are of producing exceptional Welsh wines from carefully managed harvests.
The wine tasting took place under a marquee overlooking the vineyard, which made for a lovely setting. Lucy expertly guided us through four different wines, explaining the grape varieties, tasting notes, and flavours of each. She also demonstrated the proper techniques for tasting wine, from swirling and oxygenating the wine to cleansing the palate between samples, making it both enjoyable and educational.
We also want to acknowledge our own mistake. We had originally booked for a larger group, but unfortunately six of our guests dropped out and we failed to let Lucy know in advance. Had we done so, those places could have been offered to other visitors. Despite this, Lucy was incredibly understanding and generous, allowing two of our original guests to attend tomorrow rather than losing their booking altogether.
That level of customer service was greatly appreciated and speaks volumes about the kind of people running this vineyard.
Overall, it was a beautiful, informative, and thoroughly enjoyable day out. The combination of stunning scenery, excellent wines, and genuinely warm hospitality made for a memorable experience. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend The Dell Vineyard to anyone looking for a unique Welsh wine experience.
